STILL LIVES
I paint mostly still lives. The objects depicted in the painting, I choose for their color and structure.
Usually the objects are painted at their true size or somewhat larger than their true size. Aspects that fascinate me in paintings are rythm, the color-setting, the way the light comes out and the physical structure of the paint.
My compositions usually arise when I'm arranging the objects on a support, but now and then an image comes to me before having seen objects in real life. Most of the time, I it is not my intention to put sybols into the painting, but sometimes symbolic references do arise.
